Manufacture of carbon black leads to the production of environmentally-unfriendly gases. Previously, the Company had to incinerate or flare up the gas, leading to further pollution. However, things changed when the Company began working at its first captive green power plant at Palej. The waste gases from the plants are being for captive power while surplus is being sold to the grid.
Today, PCBL is the first carbon black company in the world to receive carbon credits from UNFCCC for its 12 MW Captive Power Plant at Palej.
After the success of its greenfield project, the Company developed captive power plant at its unit under the similar model.
30 MW CPP at Durgapur
24 MW CPP at Mundra
10 MW CPP at Cochin
PCBL currently has 76 MW of power generation capacity.
